⭐ 1/5 — Extremely disappointing experience at The Dominican I used to visit the restaurant at The Dominican often and always appreciated its elegant décor, calm atmosphere, and professional service. Unfortunately, my visit yesterday was the complete opposite. From the moment we arrived, the waiter (the oldest staff member with a beard) was intrusive rather than welcoming. What began as light chat about the origin of my name quickly turned inappropriate when he commented that my female guest, not me, should choose the table. He then switched entirely to French to speak only to her, despite knowing I don’t speak French and that I was the host, while he himself spoke perfectly good English. He remained at our table far too long, ignored me, the host, completely, and focused excessively on my guest in a way that felt unprofessional and uncomfortable. He continued trying to advertise food and drinks longer than necessary, not giving us any space. It felt more like a tourist trap than a refined hotel restaurant. The food was equally disappointing. The risotto was overcooked and bland, with no seasoning whatsoever. The salmon also lacked any seasoning, and without asking he poured all the sauce over my dish, something I found completely unacceptable, though I remained polite. We couldn’t finish the food because it was genuinely that bad. When he saw the plates untouched and I told him the risotto was overcooked, he simply replied “oh really,” took the plate, and left without any further comment. We paid and left genuinely dissatisfied, something I have never experienced here before. This visit was a huge setback from the standards The Dominican was once known for. Very disappointing service, poor food quality, and an overall unpleasant experience. Sadly, a place that used to be one of my favorites has become one I probably no longer trust.
